The ability to utilize an unlimited call phone service has existed far longer than most people realize. The capacity to transmit phone calls over the internet came into existence in 1973. The only reason it never caught on was the technology was ahead of the delivery method.
The internet at the time was limited in usage. Very few individuals had access to it and those who did were relegated to the usage of dial-up modems.
